voiceteam 2023 midway check in

Voiceteam 2023 is happening and I may or may not make a big masterpost of things I made/participated in at the end, but here are two things from this week that were a lot of fun and could not be more drastically different lengths. I don't think either will end up on ao3 so they can live here in posterity!

First, a podcast episode on fan events with deepestbluesky and minnabird — we had a ton of fun goofing around and talking about big bangs and podfic events and fic exchanges and yuletide etc etc. This one is an hour and forty-five minutes long.

Second, a deeply ridiculous little audio work for a challenge where we couldn't include any spoken language. This is modern AU hamlet trying to decide whether to be or not to be. Cover art also by me below bc I was feeling inspired. This is less than a minute long.



Voiceteam is so fun and so tiring! I'll have more to say about the experience once it closes but I wanted to take a moment along the way to pause and celebrate some things I made and participated in. <3

"(shaking my fists at the sky) choi seungcheol" so true!!!!! This little podcast is so so delightful and makes me even more fired up for kfic big bang + the other fests I intend to participate in this year...one of the most fun things about writing fic is the Community and the institutions we as fans create together and this really reminded me of that :')
Also the conversation about competitive fic really resonated with me because as soon as you explained the concept I was like oh that would absolutely DESTROY me...you get into it a bit later too but I've realized it's really important to know what ways you do and do not want to participate in fests/ficcdom, which honestly goes back to my adage about fandom (ie: it is all about CURATION, baby!!).
(This is a live reaction comment now apparently, just want to state my pride that I guessed that the other ao3 author you are subscribed to is notspring aka a true legend walking on earth)

omg thank you for listening to the very long podcast and very short hamlet moment hahaha. you should be proud at guessing notspring would be my other subscription, it's very important to me. she singlehandedly made me carat! queen.

& yes lol I was so sure I would be vibing with Olymfics and then I realized I had kind of underprepared myself for the emotional element of voting etc. Something something there is always room for personal growth haha (AND you don't always have to put yourself in a position to feel weird about your own creative work). it really is all about curation! and always has been and will be!!
