2022 fic aspiration post
Hello friends local Twig here saw someone do a roundup of wips for 2022 and became immediately passionate about making their own, no surprises there.
My list is actually for ONCE really short! Aside from fic, I'm actually looking to dedicate a lot of this year to original fiction now that I've gotten a novel idea off the ground (if you want to know more and we're friends please enter my DMs about it I'm really excited but nervous but excited!), so that's going to be cutting a lot into fic writing time in a way I am okay with. Gonna try to do less this year. Is this character development? It might be.
WIPs that exist that I will definitely finish this year:
i blame myself / i blame you chapter 2: nearly there! will go up this month. i pivoted povs so please enjoy my first take on seungmin and the 2min getting together moment you've been waiting for.
i wanna watch it back, and then— : part 4 of the but it starts to hurt series. same cws apply. every time i think i'm done with this verse it comes back and i find i have more to say. not sure how close i am to done because i'm letting the story take me where it needs to go! we'll see when we see.
merry than wise: oh emma au my beloved. 51k in, haven't touched it much since nano but eager to jump back in. these characters have my heart. can't wait to unleash this (eventually 100k+) beast into the world. my pride and joy!
WIPs that exist that I may finish this year:
smile you're on camera: the gendering: odds of this one going up are good but not perfect! would love to come back to it but i know my heart is fickle and i don't have a clear direction around the ending or even main theme of this one.
crazier things: inevitably after emma au i'm going to get antsy and work on another longer WIP. this one is a major contender. 2minsung, messy polyamory, emotional infidelity (i know, infidelity from ME???? i feel possessed), technically songfic. i just LOVE these guys and this premise and the bits i've written.
put down the knife: this is the other major longfic contender. for those new here, this is my bonkers svt assassin/farmers market fusion au. i have 5k written and none of it is cohesive but how can i abandon joshua's wellness palace. maybe i'll retool it into something readable!
Bonus things I will end up writing:
whatever i end up doing for yuletide
probably some other event/fest/exchange at some point
at least one more under-10k skz fic bc i'm sure i'll get inspired and bang something out
maybe i'll snap and start the changbin/hyunjin bodyguard/idol au that's horribly entrenched in my brain
So that's the lay of the land currently! All subject to change, but I feel good about this list and I'm not overwhelming myself with the possibilities, which is a lovely change of pace. Would love to hear about what you all are working on too! xoxo.
